This past summer I had the incredible opportunity to work for Yachad Summer. One of the programs the camp I was in had was a Yachad camper integration program. As a counselor in the camper integration program, I was a counselor for a single Yachad camper who was integrated into a larger bunk of a dozen non-Yachad campers. The impact that the summer had on my camper was apparent. My camper was able to connect to other kids his age, and he overcame many social obstacles that would have held him back at the beginning of the summer. Yachad Summer gives campers an opportunity to connect with other kids in a wide variety of camps. Not only parents but also Yachad campers gain tremendously from the break away from their family members. Yachad Summer continues to work to build up Jewish campers with disabilities, and it is a privilege to be a part of that.
